I have been working with Kerry over the past few months and she has been absolutely amazing. Providing me with outstanding support emotionally and giving me care and guidance along the way. I felt an instant connection from the start, which had a significant impact on our sessions. I would highly recommend Kerry to anyone.

I worked with Kerry for just under 10 months having weekly and then fortnightly sessions. I originally sought a counsellor to assist me with feelings of anxiety and lack of control, as well as often low mental state. Kerry gave me the space to feel and work through every emotion I had whilst in the room, and created a safe space for me to talk through feelings that I hadn’t been able to share previously. She was flexible with meeting times and worked around my at times hectic work schedule. I feel now I am in a much better position and with Kerry’s help I have a toolbox of techniques to allow me to cope with these feelings. I always felt that when I was able to overcome an obstacle, there was a sense of pride from Kerry and I will be forever grateful for the 10 months we worked together. I would definitely recommend her to anyone that was seeking a counsellor, especially one who makes you feel as comfortable and at ease as Kerry does.

Kerry is a very thoughtful, caring and empathetic counsellor. She really helped me learn a lot about myself and over the past 6 months she has been an instrumental part of a positive shift in my mental and emotional well-being. Kerry was very easy to open up to and she has a great balanced yet direct and to the point approach. She gave me the tools to understand my thoughts, actions and recognise behaviours. I’m very grateful for Kerry’s support and I would absolutely recommended her to others.

I have been coming to see Kerry once a week for over a year now and, after having seen a couple of different counsellors in the past, I am very glad to have come across someone who I don’t feel awkward around or that I feel misunderstands me. She is a very warm and compassionate person and I always feel comfortable in her presence. She helps me to open up and share my feelings about topics that I may be subconsciously avoiding talking about, but always in a very gentle and encouraging way. She also makes intuitive observations and interpretations of what I’m saying, to help me better understand my feelings, but always being careful not to put words into my mouth. I would happily recommend Kerry, if you’re looking for someone to open up to, without judgement.

I started seeing Kerry after losing my mum, we were incredibly close and I felt incredibly alone and couldn’t see myself ever feeling myself again. She helped me understand that my feelings were completely normal and valid and to give myself the time I needed to process the trauma. I hadn’t felt myself for years after caring for my mum and trying to hold my life together and Kerry really gave me back the confidence that I’d lost. I was feeling overwhelmed and like I wanted to just lock myself away from the world. I feel so much stronger now and although the pain will never go away, I have the tools to handle it and strength to feel my feelings and come out the other end. I’m not sure where I’d be if I hadn’t had the time and safe space to completely share. I actually really miss our weekly sessions.

To all those who wish to work with a therapist who is sensitive to their needs, willingly works at the client’s pace and who always maintains professionalism; then I highly recommend a therapeutic journey with Kerry Engledew.
I went to Kerry to address issues relating to my experiences of child abuse, domestic violence, bereavement and anxiety. Our sessions also included attention to my self-deprecating thoughts, and negative patterns of behaviour.
Although my journey towards ‘wholeness’ has been fraught with challenges, her ability to facilitate, compassionately and patiently throughout – made each step manageable. The process has resulted in my shifting from a woman bearing enormous internal struggles into one who is able to view life in the present moment, coupled with optimism. Kerry’s success in enabling me to ‘hold onto the good’, became a vehicle of change that has created an emotional ease in my life, that I never knew before. After a few false starts with therapists, I can only say that I wish I had found Kerry sooner! Our work together over 4 years has culminated in me valuing and nurturing myself despite my past traumas. Equally, I am now able to discern and foster positive relationships.
Owing to Kerry’s use of practical strategies I have stepped into a brighter, happier future. I therefore believe you have nothing to lose and plenty to gain by at least, seeking out an introductory session with Kerry Hughes.

At the start of my journey looking for a Counsellor I was extremely anxious.
I had spoken to several Counsellors on the phone, and they had all heightened this sense of unease, so it was with a feeling of extreme caution that I finally spoke to Kerry. Immediately upon hearing her voice on the phone, I realised that she was very different to the previous Counsellors I had spoken too.
Kerry has a very calming demeanour and I instantly felt like this could be the right person for me. I booked an appointment with her and I couldn’t have been more correct. I had no idea what to expect from my counselling but I did know I had a long journey ahead of me.
Kerry is and continues to be incredibly patient, kind and empathetic. During my weekly sessions I felt completely at ease and spoke about things I hadn’t thought about in a long time. Needless to say some of these memories were painful, but Kerry always guided me through them and made sure each session was finished with me feeling a sense of accomplishment and calm.
At various points throughout the early sessions with Kerry, she assured me that if I wished to change Counsellors at any point that it was perfectly okay to do so. Kerry also bent over backwards trying to make sure that I was happy and easily able to continue my sessions through the global pandemic, via virtual video calling.
Kerry is a Counsellor that I would recommend to anyone, especially those who are taking their first step into counselling. I am pleased that I have been on this journey and genuinely couldn’t be happier with the processes I have been through. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Kerry, and she will go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and reassured in her presence.

I worked with Kerry having weekly sessions for eight months and I cannot thank her enough for helping me with my emotions, as I was feeling so absolutely lost after the death of my husband. I have seen a few counsellors throughout my lifetime and Kerry’s support far exceeded my previous experiences and I felt like I could really communicate with her, aiding me to see a way forward when I had lost all hope. Even though our work has come to an end I feel that the established relationship we achieved enables me to return to our work if and when I may come across a blip. I am so thankful and thank you for helping me tremendously Kerry.
