Appointments

If you’re thinking about making an appointment and you’re perhaps not sure what to expect, there are options in making the first step.

You can either reach out by calling, sending an email or even a text message to arrange an introductory call or an informal in person chat. Together we can discuss the support you are looking for and I can answer any questions you might have.

Appointments are 50 minutes long, and the fee is £65. The sessions can either be in person at my comfortable counselling room in Codicote, or held remotely through FaceTime or WhatsApp video call.

If you are unable to make an arranged session, 24 hours notice is required so you do not incur the full cost of a missed session.
If I have availability later that week, I will always endeavor to reschedule the missed session.

As a counsellor my aim will be to support you, working through any challenges you have encountered in the past or emotional obstacles you are feeling in the present. Ultimately my goal is to enable you to feel emotionally stronger, settled and confident in the relationships around you.

Fees
The fee is set at £65 per 50 minute session. Payment can be made by bank transfer, or cash with a receipt given. Please pay for your session either before or after the session has taken place.
Under special circumstances, a reduced fee may be negotiated.

Drugs and Alcohol
If you appear to be under the influence of an artificial stimulant, I may refuse to continue the session on that day. The session will be considered as unattended and will be charged.

Your records
Brief records are made after sessions and will remain confidential. All records with clients’ name and contact details are kept secure. All written records are destroyed at the end of seven years.

Privacy & confidentiality

For face-to-face sessions, I will provide a confidential and private space for your counselling. If we are unable to meet in person due circumstances out of our control, I am able to adapt the sessions to working virtually. When using FaceTime or WhatsApp video, please ensure you are in a private comfortable space where you will not be interrupted or your privacy is compromised. Headphones are recommended to reinforce privacy whilst working together and help to silence external distractions.

If you have children or someone within the household who depends on you, please ensure you are able to delegate the responsibility to another responsible adult whilst the session is in place.

All content of the sessions will respectfully remain private and confidential except in rare and exceptional circumstances.

If it emerged that there was a serious risk of harm to you or another person, or where I was compelled in law to do so, I would need to release appropriate information to your GP and/or other relevant authority. In such circumstances, it is always preferred to discuss with you any concerns or proposed actions.

I will not provide reports or letters regarding your Counselling to any external agency without your written consent except when a court order has been issued.

All reputable counsellors have their work supervised by a qualified supervisor to maintain appropriate standards of practice and maintain the code of ethics.

Once your counselling has ended, any notes, correspondence or records made will be securely retained for a reasonable length of time, not exceeding the period of seven years.
