I found Kerry to be able to listen to my problems & give constructive help & ideas to help me overcome my fears at the time. I have also known Kerry for many years & always found her sympathetic & willing to help & give advice. I would have no hesitation in recommending Kerry to give me counselling if & when I needed it again.

One of the hardest aspects of being a parent is the realisation that as they get older, you are only able to be a part of the solution to the challenges they face. My teenage daughter suffered with crippling anxiety, a severe lack of confidence and a general feeling of being lost in herself. After reluctantly accepting I required help, I turned to Kerry Hughes, unsure if this path was the right one. I cannot praise Kerry enough for the kindness, patience and support she showed my daughter. Kerry went out of her way on numerous occasions to work with myself and my daughters school to ensure her well being, progress, additional support & confidentiality was maintained to the highest standard. For anyone out there who is even considering that they need some help with their young adults progress. I can only share in my experience that Kerry Hughes is second to none. She is professional, courteous and effective. My daughter is a different person now and is in a great place to tackle her GCSE's, has broadened her friendship circles & dare I say it has boyfriend now. All of which would never have been possible had I not accepted that I required help. Thank you so much Kerry for everything you have done for her. I genuinely cannot thank you enough.

When I visited Kerry in March 2024, my life couldn't of been at a lower point. I had recently lost my wife 4 months previous, I had no self worth, no direction and couldn't see a way out. I knew I didn't want to die, however I had no idea how to survive. Now 2 years after her death, I have grown so much, I now have hope, I have recently got the career of my dreams, I look in the mirror and finally see a person staring back, that I'm proud of and feel I belong here on this place we call earth. The truth is it wouldn't of been possible without the incredible person that kerry is. Its impossible to truly put into words, how special she is. Kerry has qualities which are so incredible. She is Kind, she doesn't judge and has natural empathy. Put simply, you won't find a person more equipped to the job she is doing. That is why I highly recommend Kerry to everyone struggling and the instant you meet her, is the moment you realise you will ok. Thankyou Kerry if there is one person who deserves success it's you

Kerry has been a huge support to me over the last few months; I always felt listened to, understood and safe in the space Kerry provided. She helped me, metaphorically, to get back on my feet again and build my confidence up in our sessions. I would have no problem recommending Kerry to friends and family. She is simply wonderful!

I had several sessions with Kerry for depression and anxiety, alongside anxiety within work, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. From the very first session, she created a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where I felt truly heard and understood. Her compassionate approach, insightful guidance, and practical strategies made a real difference in my journey toward better mental health. I always left our sessions feeling more hopeful and equipped to handle challenges. If you’re looking for a therapist who genuinely cares and tailors her support to your needs, I highly recommend Kerry.

I’ve been going to Kerry for a while now, and every time I have a session upcoming with her, I really look forward to it. Kerry has given me a comfortable, safe space to discuss anything that’s on my mind, and has allowed me to learn positive ways of thinking and processing my problems. She’s amazing because she makes you feel safe and heard no matter what the situation you come to her with, and she is very professional, but also is very kind and loves to listen and learn about you as a person, and your hobbies, which is really lovely because I feel that I am getting the professional help and advice I need, but with the comfort and support of a friend! I would recommend anyone to Kerry if they are looking for counselling/therapy.

I have been seeing Kerry for around 5/6 months now and I've come so far from when we first started our sessions. I always feel super comfortable in her lovely cosy room, and she listens to absolutely everything i talk about. I look forward to every session I have with her. Would recommend kerry to anyone she's amazing 👏

Thank you Kerry for untangling all the wool in my head and resetting my life, giving me a future for 1st time ever. I will never forget you.

Ms V

I have been working with Kerry over the past few months and she has been absolutely amazing. Providing me with outstanding support emotionally and giving me care and guidance along the way. I felt an instant connection from the start, which had a significant impact on our sessions. I would highly recommend Kerry to anyone.

Ms E

I worked with Kerry for just under 10 months having weekly and then fortnightly sessions. I originally sought a counsellor to assist me with feelings of anxiety and lack of control, as well as often low mental state. Kerry gave me the space to feel and work through every emotion I had whilst in the room, and created a safe space for me to talk through feelings that I hadn’t been able to share previously. She was flexible with meeting times and worked around my at times hectic work schedule. I feel now I am in a much better position and with Kerry’s help I have a toolbox of techniques to allow me to cope with these feelings. I always felt that when I was able to overcome an obstacle, there was a sense of pride from Kerry and I will be forever grateful for the 10 months we worked together. I would definitely recommend her to anyone that was seeking a counsellor, especially one who makes you feel as comfortable and at ease as Kerry does.

Miss E

Kerry is a very thoughtful, caring and empathetic counsellor. She really helped me learn a lot about myself and over the past 6 months she has been an instrumental part of a positive shift in my mental and emotional well-being. Kerry was very easy to open up to and she has a great balanced yet direct and to the point approach. She gave me the tools to understand my thoughts, actions and recognise behaviours. I’m very grateful for Kerry’s support and I would absolutely recommended her to others.

Mr J

I have been coming to see Kerry once a week for over a year now and, after having seen a couple of different counsellors in the past, I am very glad to have come across someone who I don’t feel awkward around or that I feel misunderstands me. She is a very warm and compassionate person and I always feel comfortable in her presence. She helps me to open up and share my feelings about topics that I may be subconsciously avoiding talking about, but always in a very gentle and encouraging way. She also makes intuitive observations and interpretations of what I’m saying, to help me better understand my feelings, but always being careful not to put words into my mouth. I would happily recommend Kerry, if you’re looking for someone to open up to, without judgement.

I started seeing Kerry after losing my mum, we were incredibly close and I felt incredibly alone and couldn’t see myself ever feeling myself again. She helped me understand that my feelings were completely normal and valid and to give myself the time I needed to process the trauma. I hadn’t felt myself for years after caring for my mum and trying to hold my life together and Kerry really gave me back the confidence that I’d lost. I was feeling overwhelmed and like I wanted to just lock myself away from the world. I feel so much stronger now and although the pain will never go away, I have the tools to handle it and strength to feel my feelings and come out the other end. I’m not sure where I’d be if I hadn’t had the time and safe space to completely share. I actually really miss our weekly sessions.

Mrs R

To all those who wish to work with a therapist who is sensitive to their needs, willingly works at the client’s pace and who always maintains professionalism; then I highly recommend a therapeutic journey with Kerry Engledew.

I went to Kerry to address issues relating to my experiences of child abuse, domestic violence, bereavement and anxiety. Our sessions also included attention to my self-deprecating thoughts, and negative patterns of behaviour.

Although my journey towards ‘wholeness’ has been fraught with challenges, her ability to facilitate, compassionately and patiently throughout – made each step manageable. The process has resulted in my shifting from a woman bearing enormous internal struggles into one who is able to view life in the present moment, coupled with optimism. Kerry’s success in enabling me to ‘hold onto the good’, became a vehicle of change that has created an emotional ease in my life, that I never knew before. After a few false starts with therapists, I can only say that I wish I had found Kerry sooner! Our work together over 4 years has culminated in me valuing and nurturing myself despite my past traumas. Equally, I am now able to discern and foster positive relationships.

Owing to Kerry’s use of practical strategies I have stepped into a brighter, happier future. I therefore believe you have nothing to lose and plenty to gain by at least, seeking out an introductory session with Kerry Hughes.

Teacher and Author

At the start of my journey looking for a Counsellor I was extremely anxious.

I had spoken to several Counsellors on the phone, and they had all heightened this sense of unease, so it was with a feeling of extreme caution that I finally spoke to Kerry. Immediately upon hearing her voice on the phone, I realised that she was very different to the previous Counsellors I had spoken too.

Kerry has a very calming demeanour and I instantly felt like this could be the right person for me. I booked an appointment with her and I couldn’t have been more correct. I had no idea what to expect from my counselling but I did know I had a long journey ahead of me.

Kerry is and continues to be incredibly patient, kind and empathetic. During my weekly sessions I felt completely at ease and spoke about things I hadn’t thought about in a long time. Needless to say some of these memories were painful, but Kerry always guided me through them and made sure each session was finished with me feeling a sense of accomplishment and calm.

At various points throughout the early sessions with Kerry, she assured me that if I wished to change Counsellors at any point that it was perfectly okay to do so. Kerry also bent over backwards trying to make sure that I was happy and easily able to continue my sessions through the global pandemic, via virtual video calling.

Kerry is a Counsellor that I would recommend to anyone, especially those who are taking their first step into counselling. I am pleased that I have been on this journey and genuinely couldn’t be happier with the processes I have been through. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Kerry, and she will go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and reassured in her presence.

I worked with Kerry having weekly sessions for eight months and I cannot thank her enough for helping me with my emotions, as I was feeling so absolutely lost after the death of my husband. I have seen a few counsellors throughout my lifetime and Kerry’s support far exceeded my previous experiences and I felt like I could really communicate with her, aiding me to see a way forward when I had lost all hope. Even though our work has come to an end I feel that the established relationship we achieved enables me to return to our work if and when I may come across a blip. I am so thankful and thank you for helping me tremendously Kerry.
